Lauren Currie
Lauren Currie is a designer and innovator and is often referred to as redjotter, also the name of her popular design blog. Last year, Management Today featured Lauren as one of the UK’s top 35 business women under 35. This year, ELLE featured her as one of thirty women under thirty changing the world.
Lauren co-founded the Service Design and Social Innovation agency, Snook, aged 23. She worked with organizations all over the world on challenges ranging from creating new products and services, to transforming organizational processes and behaviours. She spent the last year designing and launching Hyper Island’s first MA in Experience Design. Lauren holds a Master’s Degree in Design with Distinction from Dundee University, a BSc(Hons) in Product Design from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design and was recently awarded a place at Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Entrepreneurial Development Programme.
Chris Hammond
While leading cross-functional teams as an innovation and design consultant, Chris honed his love for the opportunity space between research and design. In addition to his client consulting, he helped create an innovation partnership with a nationally recognized hospital. Chris is grateful to continue leading with courage, integrity, and empathy as a part of IBM Design core team. His specific area of focus is the Design Research competency. Chris got his BFA in Design from Brigham Young University. He has previously been Director of Insights & Innovation and Director of Design at Kaleidoscope, as well as the Design Manager at Uniden.Ontwerpduo
A birdcage in which you can swing freely, lamps that subdivide like trees, or a table you can play marbles on: the fantastic world of Ontwerpduo emerges from the collaboration and chemistry between Tineke Beunders and Nathan Wierink. Tineke likes to imagine things just a little bit differently to the way they are by fantasising new functions for them, largely ignoring any practical or technical restrictions. Often these things are in a form that seems impossible – until Nathan becomes involved. He sets to work in a workshop that has come to resemble a laboratory. When he emerges again, Tineke’s ideas turn out to be feasible after all. And so everything can begin again, happily ever after. It’s been happening like that ever since their student days at Design Academy. They had formed an alliance even before they both graduated with distinction. Mission statement: to take fairy-tale ideas and translate them into functional designs to surprise the world. Every design expresses a male and female side: technical alongside story-telling, function alongside colour and charm, Nathan alongside Tineke and vice versa.Industrial Design Seniors
